Bob Goldsmith is a lifelong Detroit area resident, and a practicing attorney.
He has lived in downtown Detroit since 2003, and found that he had a knack for giving tours (and developing tours) of Detroit. Bob started Detroit Tour Connections in 2004, and has operated it since then as a part-time business, especially during the late spring, summer and fall..
He has seen the greater downtown Detroit area go from abandoned buildings and empty sidewalks to boutique hotels and crowds attending concerts and Detroit Tiger, Lion, Red Wing and Piston games.
Bob came up with "Detroit's Rise, Fall & Renewal" as the name and theme for a downtown tour back in 2010, and the tour was offered several days a week for ten years.
The pandemic pretty much shut down Detroit Tour Connections for a couple of years. And the past three years have mostly involved tours for large groups including some Great Lakes cruise ships when they visit Detroit.
Bob is definitely one of Detroit's most experienced, knowledgeable and versatile tour guides.
And now, Bob is also an author -- with a self-published book about the buildings and life of Louis Kamper, called "LOUIS KAMPER - the Buildings and Life of a Great Detroit Architect (First Edition)."
It's 198 pages, paperback, and available for $40 plus $5 for shipping at www.louis-kamper.com.
