Bob came up with the name "Detroit's Rise, Fall & Renewal" for a downtown walking tour in 2010, and from 2010-2019, it was offered several days a week.
For 2025, Detroit's Rise, Fall & Renewal is only being offered as a private tour (usually for four people or more) scheduled with Bob in advance.
It's enjoyable, and led by a very knowledgeable guide. The cost is only $25 per person.
Generally, the tour begins outside of Detroit Beer Co. (1529 Broadway).
In less than two hours, you'll get a really good tour of downtown Detroit. Expect Detroit history, skyscrapers, sculptures, murals, music, sports, events, boutique hotels and more. Usually the tour includes a ride on the People Mover or the Q-LINE too.
Mostly an outdoor tour, done at a fairly leisurely pace, it also includes a visit to the beautiful art-deco Guardian Building and other nice downtown buildings. You'll see the area near the Fox Theater and baseball and football stadiums, the downtown shopping district and Campus Martius Park, plus downtown skyscrapers and the Spirit of Detroit sculpture near the Riverfront. Your guide will also point out how many of the historic downtown buildings (like the David Whitney Building and the Book-Cadillac Hotel) had been abandoned for many years before getting a second life.
